Volunteer Roles and Responsibility
Block Captain roles and responsibilities include:
Block Captain - Social Activities
a. Researching and presenting to the HOA board ideas e.g. fall festival, spring festival, Halloween Co-ordination etc.
b. Providing a budget to the HOA board on the cost of each event.
c. Responsible for organizing and executing ideas and social events.
d. Responsible for hanging Christmas lights and decoration at the entrance of the community.
Block Captain - Outside Fitness Program
a. Researching and presenting to the board ideas around outside fitness e.g. walking club, jogging club etc.
b. Providing a budget to the HOA board on the cost of each event if applicable.
c. Responsible for organizing and executing on ideas on outside fitness programs.
Block Captains - Community Entrance (Indian Shoals Landing)
a. Responsibilities are monitoring all lights at the entrance of the community and drainage and ensuring street is well kept.
i If street lights are out or not working, fill out the Walton EMC contact form https://www.waltonemc.com/contact/ giving them the home address closest to the street light. Or call Walton EMC at 770-267-2505 providing information.
ii. If any of the lights at the subdivision sign that states "Indian Shoals Landing" is not working, contact the Indian Shoals Community Manager to send a service repair personnel to fix issue
iii. If there are drainage blockage or drainage issues put in a call to Gwinnett County Water Resource Department at 678-376-7000 for dispatch to be sent to clear the blocked drain
iv. If there are any fallen trees in the street right of way (outside the conservation space) please contact Gwinnett County Department of Transportation at 770-822-7400 for them to remove the tree.
v. If there are any fallen trees within the conservation space that falls toward the street, please contact the Indian Shoals Community Manager .
vi. If streets and sidewalks are damaged, contact the Gwinnett County Traffic Engineering, Operations and Maintenance using the email address DOTServiceRequest@gwinnettcounty.com and/pr phone number 770-822-7400
vii. Use a bag to pick up trash debris seen at the entrance of the subdivision including trash found at the trail at the front of the community. Dispose of trash in your Republic Services supplied trash bin.
Block Captains - Street (Limited to Homeowners)
a. Responsibilities are monitoring street lights and drainage and ensuring street is well kept.
i If street lights are out or not working, fill out the Walton EMC contact form https://www.waltonemc.com/contact/ giving them the home address closest to the street light. Or call Walton EMC at 770-267-2505 providing information.

iv. Door to door canvassing as needed.
v. Communicate procedures above to members on your street on how to maintain streetlight, drainage, sidewalks etc.
Block Captain - Pool (Limited to Homeowners)
a. Responsibilities include
i. Ensuring bathroom fixtures, lights, water fountain are in working condition
ii. Ensuring the area does not have an ant nest, wasp nest, cobweb and ant hills. Walk around the pool area to ensure there are no ant hills.
iii. Ensuring the clock is working.
iv. Ensure the area is clean (free of debris) and chairs are properly arranged. Note the cleaning crew comes twice a week on Thursday/Friday and Monday/Tuesday when the pool is open.
v. If any of the above is observed, contact the community manager to communicate to our vendors to address the issue.
Block Captain - Tennis, Pickleball and Basketball (Limited to Homeowners)
a. Responsibilities include
i. Walk around the tennis court and basketball court to ensure the area does not have an ant hill. If an ant hill is observed, communicate to the Community manager for Vendor to address the issue.
ii. Walk the tennis court and basketball court ensuring chairs, score board, nets, backboard, basketball net, basketball padding and basketball backboard are arranged and not damaged. Contact the community manager if damage is observed.
iii. From pool close to pool open (Oct 1 to May 31), inspect and empty basketball outdoor trash can into Republic Service outdoor trash by pool house. Replace bag in outdoor trash can. Bring out and bring in trash every Thursday from Oct 1 to May 31.
iv. Ensure the area is clean and free of debris.
v. Inspect drainage at basketball court and If there are drainage blockage or drainage issues put in a call to Gwinnett County Water Resource Department at 678- 376-7000 for dispatch to be sent to clear the blocked drain
vi. a. Researching and presenting to the board ideas eg tennis clinic, pickleball clinic, basketball clinic etc.
vii. Providing a budget to the HOA board on the cost of each event if applicable.
viii. Responsible for organizing and executing on ideas and recreation programs.

Outside Fitness Committee: Members of this committee include the Outside Fitness Program Block Captain(s).
Amenities Committee (Limited to Homeowners): Members of this committee include Street Block Captain(s)
Pool Committee (Limited to Homeowners): Members of the pool committee include Pool Block Captain(s).
Tennis, Pickleball and Basketball Committee (Limited to Homeowners): Members of this committee include the Tennis, Pickleball and Basketball Block Captain(s).
